Looking at 2026 so far, the 23-year-old has posted a 4–4 record. She reached the third round of the Australian Open in Melbourne and followed that up with a semi-final run in Abu Dhabi last week. While those results are respectable, there are also warning signs. Tauson has suffered losses to lower-ranked opponents such as Aliaksandra Sasnovich, Ajla Tomljanovic, Victoria Mboko, and Sara Bejlek, suggesting she may not be operating at peak confidence or consistency right now.

Katerina Siniakova, now 29 years old, compiled a 37–23 record in 2025, with standout results including a semi-final appearance in Seoul and a quarter-final run at the prestigious Wuhan Open. She also captured a WTA 125 title in Warsaw and once again demonstrated her elite credentials on the doubles circuit, where she remains one of the best in the world.

Entering the Qatar Open, Siniakova is ranked No. 40 and has won three of her six matches in 2026. While her singles results this season have been mixed, there is reason for optimism in Doha. In 2024, she reached the third round of the Qatar Open, recording impressive wins over Donna Vekic and Coco Gauff, which strongly suggests she is comfortable on these courts and in these conditions.

Siniakova is known for being an exceptionally tough competitor, particularly against aggressive ball-strikers like Tauson. She has the defensive skills, court awareness, and tactical variety to disrupt Tauson’s rhythm and extend rallies—something that could prove decisive given Tauson’s recent inconsistencies.

While Siniakova is also scheduled to compete in doubles, we believe she will be fully motivated and focused for this singles encounter. When factoring in experience, matchup dynamics, and court history, the circumstances appear to favor the Czech player.
