RACING SERVICE: PREVIEW & PICKS AT BANGOR & NEWCASTLE. A competitive afternoon of National-Hunt racing awaits at Bangor and Newcastle, with several contests offering solid betting opportunities. After assessing profiles, conditions, and market value, a few runners stand out as overpriced relative to their chances. Here are the key selections and the reasoning behind the ones shared.

RACING SERVICE: PREVIEW & PICKS AT BANGOR & NEWCASTLE

BANGOR 2:45 – PARLIAMO (15/2, 8’s+ Exchanges)While it’s fair to believe COUMEENOULE will do better on good ground, he appears to have gone backwards since joining the Skeltons. SLIM MARVEL has just 1 win from 26 races, and while he ran well last time out, that came on heavy ground.

DALEY BOY was expected to improve following a wind operation last time out, but that didn’t materialise. ESCORT’KHEOPS looks short in the betting for a horse who doesn’t jump with great fluency.

Now that he’s handicapped, I’m siding with the Mel Rowley-trained 6-year-old PARLIAMO. He took a step forward last time out and should be capable of further improvement. The step up in trip looks a positive, and the booking of a conditional rider to claim a valuable 5lb is another plus.

BANGOR 3:50 – NATIVEHILL (15/2)THE GOOD DOCTOR could return to form, but he needs to bounce back from a couple of underwhelming efforts. The lightly weighted RULE ME IN is the early favourite, but based on recent runs, it would be risky to back the 8-year-old at such short odds.

KAHAVARI isn’t a prolific winner, while 9-year-old ANYARMINASKING looks fully exposed and unlikely to improve. With just 2 wins from 32 runs, it’s easy to see why the Skelton runner is drifting in the market.

Fergal O’Brien saddles chasing debutant NATIVEHILL. The 8-year-old looks well suited to this discipline and begins his chasing career on a reasonable handicap mark. Although he returns from a break, fitness shouldn’t be an issue.

NEWCASTLE 3:00 – VALETTE (5/1 + Exchanges)Since switching to racing under rules, it’s fair to say that winning point-to-pointer I C U IN MY DREAMS hasn’t quite lived up to early expectations. Nevertheless, she has been fairly consistent, and in a race of this nature, she holds solid claims. “That said, odds of around 11/10 are about as enticing as a cruise through the Strait of Hormuz.”hardly appealing.

Second favourite LIPSTICK TRACES is rated just 94 and doesn’t shape as though this longer trip on a demanding track like Newcastle will suit.

I’m siding with the Susan Corbett-trained VALETTE, a bargain acquisition for the yard. I wouldn’t be put off by the £1,800 price tag—especially as she’s now in a stable that knows how to get the best out of its horses.
