Swiss Super League Betting Preview & Picks – February 14

The 2025/26 Swiss Super League season has been an unusual one so far, particularly when it comes to home advantage. After 141 league matches, the numbers show just how small that edge has been. Before thursday’s games, home teams have recorded 54 wins, there have been 37 draws, and away sides have claimed victory on 50 occasions.

In percentage terms, that translates to 38.3% home wins, 26.2% draws, and 35.5% away wins. From a betting perspective, those figures imply that you would need average odds of 2.61 for home wins, 3.83 for draws, and 2.82 for away wins simply to break even with level staking. It’s a clear reminder that blindly backing home teams in Switzerland this season has not been a profitable strategy.

With that in mind, let’s break down Saturday’s two Super League fixtures.

Swiss Super League Betting Preview & Picks – February 14

FC Zurich vs Luzern

League positions:

  • FC Zurich: 8th

  • Luzern: 9th

  • Points difference: 1

This matchup sees two sides sitting next to each other in the table, separated by just a single point. FC Zurich have collected 16 points at home, which is exactly the same number of points Luzern have managed on the road this season — another example of how neutral venue dynamics have felt in this league.

The teams have already met twice this campaign. The reverse fixture ended in a 1–1 draw, while Zurich won 3–2 in the earlier meeting at this stadium. However, that result deserves some context. Luzern were leading 2–0 before Taisei Abe was sent off, completely shifting the momentum. Two of Zurich’s goals came from the penalty spot, and the winning goal wasn’t scored until the 92nd minute.

Recent Form

FC Zurich come into this game having just ended a seven-match winless run in the league, a stretch that included five defeats. They finally returned to winning ways last weekend with a 3–0 victory over bottom-placed Winterthur. Despite the comfortable scoreline, the underlying numbers told a different story, with both teams posting very similar expected goals (xG).

Luzern, on the other hand, arrive in much steadier form. Mario Frick’s side are unbeaten in four matches, drawing twice with Sion, sharing the points with St Gallen, and most recently edging Grasshoppers in a thrilling 4–3 win.

Prediction

Although Luzern are dealing with five injured players, none of those absentees could be considered key starters. They remain well-organised and particularly well suited to playing away from home. Given Zurich’s recent struggles and Luzern’s solid form, the visitors look capable of taking all three points.

For added security, the Draw No Bet option provides sensible cover.

St Gallen vs Grasshoppers

St Gallen have been remarkably consistent home and away this season, picking up 21 points in each setting, despite having played one fewer match at home. After 23 games, they sit second in the table, although they remain 10 points behind runaway leaders Thun.

Following a three-game winless spell, St Gallen bounced back emphatically last round with a 2–1 victory over Young Boys. They made a lightning-fast start, scoring in the 5th and 11th minutes, before conceding a late consolation goal in stoppage time. The performance fully justified the result, as they dominated the underlying numbers with 23 shots to 10, 7 shots on target, and an expected goals advantage of +1.55.

Grasshoppers, meanwhile, are struggling near the bottom of the table. They sit second from last, with just six points separating them from both bottom-placed Winterthur and third-bottom Servette. Their form offers little encouragement, having failed to win any of their last six league matches. Last weekend, they were involved in a wild 4–3 defeat to Luzern, once again highlighting defensive vulnerabilities.

Prediction

Earlier in the season, Grasshoppers were thrashed 5–0 at this stadium, with three goals conceded before they even went down to ten men. Just before Christmas, they also lost the reverse fixture 2–1 at home.

Given St Gallen’s strong performance last time out and Grasshoppers’ ongoing struggles, there’s no obvious reason to expect a different outcome here.
