THREE FOR FREE AT KEMPTON: RACING PREVIEW & TIPS. I like the idea of just two race meetings because it makes focusing easier. While we will need to figure plenty of stuff out when the betting market is fully established, i believe that today is full of opportunity!

THREE FOR FREE AT KEMPTON: RACING PREVIEW & TIPS

KEMPTON 1:30 — KASINO DES MOTTES (9/4)

Before joining the Paul Nicholls stable, TALK TO THE MAN won an Irish point-to-point. That at least proves he can jump, but on the downside, he didn’t show much when racing in bumpers.

Since last running, FRESH KICKS has had a wind operation. Nicky Henderson’s yard has won this race three times in the past four seasons, and the son of AFFINSEA will have been well prepared for his hurdling debut. However, he too will need to improve on his only bumper run, and in my opinion, he’s got something to prove!

I’m backing the Joe Tizzard-trained KASINO DES MOTTES, who should benefit from having a recent run. At Chepstow, the five-year-old finished a fair 5th of 13 in a good-looking novice hurdle, and he should cope fine with dropping back in distance. As the winner of a point-to-point on similar ground, the son of BALKO ticks all the right boxes.

KEMPTON 2:00 — TURNDLIGHTSDOWNLOW (2/1)

While this is an easy track, the well-handicapped JET OF DREAMS would have more chance at the minimum trip. To cut a long story short, he’s unproven over the extra five furlongs and I’m not expecting him to finish in the frame.

It’s hard to believe the handicapper felt justified in raising BELTRANE two pounds for finishing 2nd of 6 last time out. The other issue I have with Emma Lavelle’s seven-year-old is his jumping — it’s sketchy at best, and a tight track like this will only put him under extra pressure.

SUN JOY represents in-form trainer Ben Pauling and comes here on the back of a win at Ludlow. The box he ticks is the right-handed track, but on the flip side, he looks in the grip of the handicapper.

For the most part, JEFE TRIUNFO is consistent. Nevertheless, he’ll need to find something extra to win this, and he’s not the most fluent of jumpers either.

The door looks open for TURNDLIGHTSDOWNLOW to follow up his wide-margin win over this course and distance last time. While he’s been raised 10 pounds for that victory, the way he came clear late on suggests there’s still plenty more in the tank. The race should be run to suit, and the conditions look spot on.

KEMPTON 2:30 — IDY WOOD (5/1)

EYED is likely to need the run, and he looks a bit high in the handicap. The Paul Nicholls-trained BELOW THE RADAR is more of a stayer — I doubt he’s sharp enough for a track like Kempton, especially at this distance.

SIXTY PLUS keeps winning, but this is a stronger race and he’s up in the weights. Considering he made a bad mistake, SAINT ANAPOLINO did well to finish a fair 6th of 20 at Cheltenham. The mount of Callum Prichard could benefit from a first-time hood and should be there or thereabouts. BUSY BEING BUSY has been running well at the gaff tracks, but his form lacks real substance.

I want to chance IDY WOOD for in-form trainer Jamie Snowden. The seven-year-old won a hurdle on his seasonal debut and wasn’t beaten far from a 4lb higher mark last time at Chepstow. The son of COASTAL PATH has won at the track and is also a distance winner on similar ground. This front-runner should be suited by switching back to fences, and odds of around 5/1 look more than fair.
