THREE FOR FREE AT UTTOXETER: BETTING PREVIEW & TIPS. While it’s not the most competitive racing on Friday, it looks a great day for having a bash at the bookies. I’m sharing three picks at Uttoxeter, and i’ll add another two later in the day for Wetherby on my X feed – here is the link to @bettinganalystt.

THREE FOR FREE AT UTTOXETER: BETTING PREVIEW & TIPS

12:25 – LA CONQUIERE (11/8)

On her final run of last season, CRYSTAL DAYS landed a big-priced win at 40/1. Ben Pauling has his string in fine order, and the five-year-old looks capable of improving again. However, she’s up against some useful types here.

DREAM SHADOW hails from a stable in good form and has posted fair numbers in NHF races. That said, it’s telling that she stayed in that sphere for four starts — suggesting she might not be the most natural hurdler.

One at big odds who could outrun her price is APPLESHAW. When last seen, the Harry Fry-trained six-year-old finished a disappointing 8th of 12 over this course and distance. Previously, she’d run two fair races — one in a bumper and one over hurdles — and she should improve following a recent wind operation.

The best bumper form in the race belongs to the Jamie Snowden-trained LA CONQUIERE. For her former trainer Denis Leahy, she finished 2nd of 18 in a Thurles bumper, and since joining Ben Pauling, she was 2nd of 20 at the Aintree National meeting. If the daughter of Le Havre puts in a good round of jumping, she could be unstoppable.

2:30 – ILITCH (8/1)

AS LEGENDS HAVE IT was consistent last season, but that consistency makes him look a bit exposed. JACKPOT CASH is better handicapped over fences, and I can’t see him getting involved here.

THE LONG WALK got off the mark at the sixth attempt, but it was a weak race and he’s now harshly handicapped. JOHN BARBOUR is stoutly bred, which suggests he’ll appreciate the extra distance. However, he was a disappointing beaten favourite last time out.

STREAMSFORTH LAN improved on his first start for Gary Hanmer, but he’ll need to build again on that effort. As for the one I like, it’s worth chancing ILITCH. The seven-year-old was a good winner last time, and the way he finishes his races suggests the extra distance will be right up his street.

3:05 – VANDERPOEL (5/1)

This is a fascinating novice chase, with all five runners making their debuts over fences. On hurdles form, LUMP SUM is the one to beat — rated 146 in that sphere, he’d be giving weight to all of these in a handicap. Having won three of his four seasonal debuts, a clean round of jumping would make him tough to beat.

JAX JUNIOR was campaigned mostly between 2m4f and 3m last season, so dropping back to the minimum trip will be a real test for the Lucy Wadham-trained six-year-old. JUNKER D’ALLIER won three of his last eight and has had a wind operation since last seen, so he too should be thereabouts.

But for the winner, I’m siding with the Ben Pauling-trained VANDERPOEL. The six-year-old, a point-to-point winner, is lightly raced and looks a natural chaser in the making. While his previous wins came on right-handed tracks, I can’t see racing anti-clockwise being any issue.
