TOP RACING BETS FOR TUESDAY: FREE & EASY

HUNTINGDON 12:51 – TIGGA TIME (100/30)

With most of these looking thoroughly exposed, this race is there for the taking.

KEEP IT COOL is a cheap acquisition from Ireland. While we trust James Owen’s training skills, this gelding will need to improve on what he achieved for Shark Hanlon.

The lightly raced LENNIE GODBER represents the in-form Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies team. My issue with the five-year-old is that he did little on his comeback run, while other runners from the same yard have been fully wound up. To cut a long story short, he’s yet to place and has plenty to prove.

According to his flat rating, RULER LEGEND is fairly treated over hurdles. Declan Carroll’s five-year-old won two of his 21 races, including one at this track. However, he’s been regressive on the flat and might prefer easier ground.

I like the look of TIGGA TIME, who represents one of the few trainers showing a level-stake profit at SP. The Sarah Humphrey-trained gelding finished second twice for his former trainer Sandy Thomson, and on debut for his new yard he ran a fair fifth of 11 at Worcester. While his jockey will need to get the son of Malinas to settle better, that looks a foregone conclusion today. The track and ground are positives, and a mark of 99 looks more than fair.

HUNTINGDON 1:26 – AMELIA’S STAR (4/1)

If we’re being analytical, the recent win of LADY TADITA took a few knocks. While the Jamie Snowden-trained four-year-old could do no more than win easily at Market Rasen, the runner-up disappointed badly next time out. The same can be said for several others in that mares’ race, making her current odds of 4/7 look very short.

BLUE BETTY posted better figures when winning her debut bumper and had excuses when contesting a Grade 2 at Aintree. Nevertheless, we’ll bypass both her and the favourite in favour of AMELIA’S STAR — and here’s why.

The David Killahena & Graeme McPherson-trained five-year-old looked good when winning a Newcastle bumper, beating next-time-out winner Ce Mi Run. She wasn’t beaten far when finishing eighth of 20 in a Grade 2 at Aintree — the same race where Blue Betty finished 16th.

On hurdling debut, she benefits from her jockey’s five-pound claim, and unlike the favourite, she’s unpenalised. In my opinion, that weight advantage is significant — and we’ll be betting accordingly.

LINGFIELD 1:17 – EXPRESS SUNRISE (5/1)

I’M YOUR BUCKAROO is a strong stayer who handles an undulating course and should appreciate the longer trip. The lightly raced five-year-old made a satisfactory chase debut, and switching disciplines at such an early stage suggests there’s more to come.

KING OF THIEVES looks a real chasing type, and Evan Williams has booked a top jockey for the ride. However, the stable’s form is dreadful — reason enough to look elsewhere.

THE BIG REVEAL should improve for fences and won’t be long in winning a race, though I doubt it will be this one. A place chance at best.

I’m expecting better from EXPRESS SUNRISE, trained by Clive Boultbee-Brooks. He disappointed in his last two runs before a break, but he’s better than that. That quiet spell has helped his mark drop, and with Ned Fox taking off five pounds, he’s well treated today. The ground suits, and he doesn’t need much to be ready — everything points to a bold run.
